First and crucial step in every project is to get familiar with the company, their values, their vision and the the problems they have, as well as study the competition and their strenghts and weaknesses. I will arrange interviews or set up a survey to help understand end users better.
At this stage I'm focusing on solving problems highlighted in research phase. Ultimately, I will prepare a brief with findings from research phase, design goals and requirements. If you have done this part internally, then we can start with the next step almost immediately.
I normally start the design phase by creating low fidelity wireframes and setting up moodboards. After those have been dialed in, I work my magic with help of Sketch and Figma to create the visuals.
Having a clear process helps minimise the missteps along the way, but in most cases testing is still necessary to better understand the specifics and behaviour of targeted users and further improve the user experience.
After the design has been tested and alterations made, I prepare the design files for the hand-off to developers or code the front-end myself with help of Webflow.
